School of Civil Engineering

Introduction    

The School of Civil Engineering was founded in December 2011, whose predecessor is the Department of Civil Engineering that was founded in 1985. The School of Civil Engineering has three Departments, i.e. Department of CivilEngineering, Department of Traffic Engineering, and Department ofUnderground and HarborEngineering. Besides, the school has one Engineering Mechanics Research Institute and one Undergraduate Teaching and Research Center (including Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Mechanics, and Analysis Simulation Laboratory). At present, there are 117 faculties and more than 2400 full-time students.  

   

Cultivation Aim    

1. To meet the needs of national modernization construction and economic development, adapt to future scientific and technological progress, and develop morally, intellectually and physically talents in an all-round way;  

2. To master the basic theoretical knowledge of civil engineering discipline, and have the ability to use mathematics and scientific tools to solve complex engineering problems;  

3. To have the professional knowledge and basic skills in survey, design, construction technology, construction management, testing, supervision, scientific research, and consultation in the field of civil engineering.

Discipline Characteristics:    

1. Civil Engineering was approved as the construction site of characteristic program of higher education by the Ministry of Education in 2008.  

2. Civil Engineering passed two rounds of higher education professional evaluation by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development in 2009 and 2014, and became the national-level featured program, Tianjin brand program and national comprehensive reform pilot program.  

3. The Urban Underground Space Engineering major is related to Tianjin strategic emerging industry and is Tianjin appliedprogram.  

4. TheTransportationEngineeringprogram is also Tianjin appliedprogram.  

   

International Cooperation:    

The School has international cooperation at both undergraduate and graduate levels with Swinburne University of Technology(Australia), Bialystok University of Technology(Poland), Poznan University of Technology(Poland), and Iowa State University (USA).  

   

Employment rate:    

In recent 5 years, the employment rate of the students is above 93%.
