Overview

TCU has signed MOU with 50 universities and institutions in 23 countries, and has conducted over 30 cooperation programs with 20 foreign universities, including 20 joint educational programs, 3 short-term student exchange programs, 2 teacher-training programs, 1 overseas educational program, 3 international joint research centers and 1 overseas teaching base. Among them, the undergraduate education project for engineering management with VIA University College in Denmark has conducted enrollments for 9 years consecutively. TCU has passed the qualification evaluation (accreditation) for overseas study in China, and is qualified to recruit international students for undergraduate and graduate studies. There are more than 1,100 long-term and short-term international students from 36 countries. Besides, TCU has been granted 2 national projects for introducing advanced overseas talents, 90 Tianjin projects for introducing overseas experts and characteristic projects of Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, and the university was listed as one of model units in Tianjin for introducing overseas talents. 

TCU has supported nearly 500 teachers and students to visit overseas universities. More than 120 students have obtained double degrees, and 16 teachers and students among them have been grated scholarship from the EU. “International School of Engineering at Tianjin Chengjian University”, the Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run educational institution approved by the Ministry of Education was established in 2019, offering undergraduate and postgraduate education in 4 programs. There are 447 undergraduate students and 52 postgraduate students at the school. TCU has also participated in the construction of Punjab Tianjin University of Technology, with the other two universities of Tianjin. 

The Joint Research Center for Protective Infrastructure Technology and Environmental Green Bioprocess, jointly established with University of Technology Sydney, Australia, has been in the third batch of international scientific and technological cooperation bases in Tianjin. The Sino-Australia Joint Research Centre for High Performance Civil Engineering Materials and Intelligent Construction Technology, jointly established by TCU and Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, has been approved as the Belt and Road collaborative laboratory (research center) in Tianjin in 2020. Over 1000 experts and scholars from overseas well-known universities have been invited to carry out academic activities at TCU. In addition, TCU has hosted 17 international conferences and has won 18 international awards in recent years.
