On June 14th, the International Workshop on Development and Applications of Advanced Functional Materials was held in TCU, which was co-organized by School of Materials Science and Engineering of TCU, National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Tianjin Solid Waste Recycling Technology, Tianjin Construction Waste and Coal Waste Utilization Technology Engineering Center and Tianjin Key Laboratory of Building Environmental protection Material.
TCU President, Professor Li Zhongxian welcomed all the experts and scholars home and abroad, and gave them a comprehensive introduction of TCU. Meanwhile, President Li hoped that each expert could give valuable opinions for the academic development.
Academician Gao Wei of Auckland University and Royal Academy of Sciences and Engineering of New Zealand, Professor Mohammad Mujahid of National University of Science and Technology of Pakistan, Professor Wu Ping of Singapore University of Technology and Design, Professor Xie Zonghan of the University of Adelaide, Professor Liu Wenguang of Tianjin University, Professor Mu Ru of Hebei University of Technology, Associate Professor Guo Anran of Tianjin University, Professor Liu Zhifeng and Associate Professor Zhang Lei of TCU, attended the conference and presented academic reports. The delegation of School of Materials Science and Engineering TCU also participated in this conference.
Professor Li Junwei, Deputy Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering of TCU, presided the opening ceremony. Dean Liu Hongli delivered a welcome speech on behalf of TCU，announcing the official opening of this international conference.
During the conference, Academician Gao Wei gave a lecture entitled “Surface Nano-Engineering“ to explain the related issues in the field of nano-engineering at the macro level. Professor Mujahid’s report focused on“Advanced Nano Bio Materials”. Professor Wu Ping gave a detailed introduction of the project "Ni-Ti-X-based Coatings for Aluminium Alloys – By Using Combined Experimental and Modelling Approaches". With the title "Bio-inspired Surface Engineering", Professor Xie Zongqi reported on“Bio-inspired Surface Engineering”applied to the experience of surface engineering. Based on the development and application of advanced functional materials, other experts also delivered academic reports from their own studies.
This international conference provided a good platform for experts and scholars in the field of new materials at home and abroad to share the latest research results and innovation technology, which further strengthened the cooperation and communication with scholars abroad, improved the discipline construction of material science and engineering, enhanced the research ability and Tianjin’s influence in the field of new materials, and promoted the scientific and technological innovation cooperation among the countries along the “Belt and Road” with the green development concept to achieve open and shared development.
