On November 20th,the signing ceremony on double Master’s degree program in Resources and Environment was held online between Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU) and Universityof Palermo of Italy (UNIPA). TCU President, Professor LI Zhongxian met with UNIPA Rector, Professor Fabrizio Micari. Directors of International Cooperation Office and Deans of School of Environmental and Municipal Engineering attended the meeting and witnessed the virtual signing ceremony.
The meeting began with a video reviewing two universities’ cooperation. Rector Micari pointed out that the double Master’s degree program with TCU was the first double degreeprogram with Chinese universities. He highlighted the substantial results two universities had achieved and expressed his gratitude for TCU’s efforts in pushing forward with the joint program. He considered the pandemic can never stop the exchange and cooperation between China and Italy. He hoped to expand cooperation with TCU to more fields, including staff exchange, international talent training and scientific research, etc. and was full of confidence for in-depth cooperation for two universities in the future.

In his remarks, President LI Zhongxian said Chinese and Italian people united together and built strong friendship faced with the sudden outbreak of the pandemic, which had set a good example for international community and had further boosted the determination and confidence for the cooperation between two universities. He mentioned the pandemic is a great challenge for higher education, but international cooperation of TCU was not stopped and two universities had overcome obstacles and made substantial progress. He wished two universities could exchange visits as soon as the epidemic ends.

University of Palermo (Università degli Studi di PALERMO, abbreviated as UNIPA), was established in 1777. It is a famous comprehensive university of Italy, integrating culture,science and education. It is located in Sicily as the biggest university of the region. TCU established partnership with UNIPA in 2019 and signing this agreement has further deepened cooperation between two universities, and has promoted internationalization and global influence of TCU.
