On March 18th, the Briefing cum Experience Sharing Meeting for the 2024 National Government-sponsored Visiting Scholar Program was held at Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU). Vice President Wang Zhongliang, along with more than 60 teacher and student representatives from various schools, including school staff in charge of foreign affairs, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Wang Li, Director of the International Cooperation Office.
Staff from the International Cooperation Office introduced the relevant policies of the China Scholarship Council(CSC)'s study abroad program and elaborated on the selection overview of the 2024 National Government-sponsored Visiting Scholar Program, the application and admission situation of TCU over the past years, and the administration requirements for dispatching faculty abroad.
Outstanding teacher representatives who were successfully admitted for the CSC program, including Cheng Xinglei from the School of Civil Engineering, and Yao Chunlin from the School of Foreign Languages, shared their experiences regarding application process, preparations for and safety in studying and living abroad, etc.
In his concluding remarks, Wang Zhongliang stated that all units and departments should attach great importance to the government-sponsored visiting scholar program, select outstanding talents in a planned, focused, and targeted manner, and adhere to the principle of “early promotion, early mobilization, and early implementation”. He encouraged young teachers to make full use of the opportunities and platforms provided by the government for studying abroad, plan carefully and participate actively in program application to broaden their international horizons, enhance their academic abilities, and to actively contribute to TCU construction and the high-quality development of Tianjin upon their return.
The meeting is an important measure taken by TCU to actively practice the central government’s requirements of striving for excellence in four key areas, to deeply implement the TCU Action, to focus on international education, and to improve the internationalization level of the faculty. In recent years, closely following the national strategies and the needs of economic and social development within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, TCU has actively promoted and fully utilized various program resources of the CSC, achieving new breakthroughs in government-sponsored visiting scholar program. The application success rate has reached 100% multiple times, significantly improving its quality and effectiveness. In the future, TCU will continue to improve the selection process in accordance with the program’s policy requirements, actively expand the channels and platforms for dispatching faculty and students abroad, improve the administration mechanisms and service system, further stimulate faculty and students’ enthusiasm to participate in international exchanges, and strive to make progress in the development of international exchange of TCU.
