In order to actively establish a platform for faculty and students of Tianjin Chengjian University(TCU) to exchange and study abroad, and broaden their international vision, on December 26th, Professor Zhang Jing, Assistant to the President of University of Toyama in Japan, was invited to visit TCU. Wang Zhongliang, Vice President of TCU, warmly welcomed the guest. Director of the International Cooperation Office and more than 60 TCU teacher and student representatives from civil engineering and transportation-related disciplines attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Professor Zhang Jing vividly introduced University of Toyama from various aspects such as urban environment, academic resources, and teaching models, etc. based on her own learning and work experience. She emphasized the cooperation between the China Scholarship Council and University of Toyama in fully funding Chinese students pursuing doctoral degrees in Japan, and encouraged postgraduate students in relevant majors at TCU to actively participate in project applications. There was an enthusiastic Q&A session where faculty and students asked questions about pursuing master's and doctoral degrees at University of Toyama and engaged in communications and discussions. Professor Zhang Jing provided detailed answers to questions related to project application and disciplines matching, creating a lively atmosphere. Wang Zhongliang encouraged the students to progress actively, enhance their comprehensive qualities, and strive for more opportunities for personal growth. Students expressed that their horizons had been broadened and their future plans became clearer and more determined through this meeting.
In the future, TCU will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with University of Toyama in Japan, and elevate the collaboration to a new level. At the same time, TCU will also continue to promote our university's overseas exchange and study programs, providing broader development opportunities and diverse learning experiences for faculty and students seeking to study at foreign universities.
Introduction of Professor Zhang Jing
Professor Zhang Jing currently serves as the Assistant to the President of University of Toyama in Japan and a member of the Science Council of Japan. She was the former Vice Chairman of the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR). Professor Zhang mainly engages in research and teaching in the field of chemical oceanography and environmental chemistry, and her research focus mainly include global climate change and its ecological effects, marine biogeochemistry, and environmental geochemistry, etc. Professor Zhang is an internationally renowned expert in marine environmental chemistry and has published over 200 academic papers in authoritative international and Japanese journals.
