On April 9th, the delegation from University of Stirling(UOS) visited Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU). TCU President Wang Zhongliang warmly welcomed the guests. Directors and Deans of International Cooperation Office, School of Economics and Management, School of Urban Art, School of Foreign Languages, School of International Education, and Department of Physical Education attended the meeting.
Wang Zhongliang extended a warm welcome to the UOS delegation and introduced the university's disciplinary structure, strengths, and international collaborations. He stated that the education system in the UK boasted a long history and globally renowned quality. As one of the best national universities in the UK, UOS ranked top in education, finance, sports and other fields. He hoped that this visit could promote practical cooperation in related disciplines, further deepen educational and cultural exchanges between the two universities, paving the way for a new model of international collaborative education. Dr. Lee Zhuang, Executive Director for Internationalisation and Partnerships at UOS, expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality from TCU. He introduced the profile and academic offerings of UOS, noting the similarities between the two universities in terms of development history and scale. He expressed the hope to give full play to the unique advantages of the two universities in the future, explore potential areas of cooperation, and carry out extensive and in-depth cooperation in areas such as faculty-student exchange and talent cultivation, thus fostering a long-term partnership.
Later on, Wang Li, Director of International Cooperation Office, Zhang Xiaokai, Dean of School of Urban Art, Wang Xiao, Dean of School of International Education, Wang Jianhua, Director of Department of Physical Education, Lv Chen, Vice Dean of School of Economics and Management, Wang Yang, Vice Dean of School of Foreign Languages from TCU, had in-depth discussions with the delegation and reached consensus on future cooperation areas such as elderly-oriented design, international Chinese education, sports and health science, economics and management, and English education, etc.
During the visit, the delegation also visited the School of International Education and the Department of Physical Education of TCU to gain a deeper understanding of the university's features and achievements in international student education and physical education teaching.
Founded in 1967, UOS is one of the top universities in Scotland. It has a five-star QS rating and is ranked 431st in the 2024 QS World University Rankings and among the top 50 UK universities by The Guardian. UOS has five faculties including Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport, and Stirling Management School, etc. It has over 17,000 students and more than 1,800 faculty and staff, with international students from more than 140 countries and regions, accounting for more than 30% of the student body.
TCU established a strategic partnership with UOS in 2023 and two universities have been engaging in communications regarding cooperation in English studies. This visit marked an important step in strengthening inter-university exchanges and deepening practical cooperation. Moving forward, TCU will continue to consolidate the cooperative relationship between the two universities, steadily promote the joint English program, and further expand academic exchanges and cooperative programs based on the unique strengths and features of the two universities, providing faculty and students with wider range of international experiences, and fostering mutual benefits through resource sharing and win-win cooperation.
