On April 3rd, School of Materials Science and Engineering of Tianjin Chengjian University(TCU) and Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman(UTAR) of Malaysia held the Joint Seminar of Solar Energy Utilization and Photoelectric Materials. The seminar was successfully held online and offline. Professor LIU Zhifeng, Dean of TCU School of Materials Science and Engineering, Professor YAP Wun She, Dean of UTAR Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science and others attended the seminar and delivered keynote speeches, and more than 60 teachers and students from two universities attended the seminar.
At the beginning of the seminar, LIU Zhifeng and YAP Wun She introduced respectively the history, research fields, scientific and technological innovation, laboratory construction, international exchanges and cooperation of the two schools.
Later on, the two schools carried out academic exchanges on the use of solar energy and photoelectronic materials, and 6 experts including LIU Zhifeng, ZHAO Wei, ZHANG Bo, CHONG Kok Keong, JUN Hieng Kiat and LOW Foo Wah delivered academic reports for teachers and students. Experts shared their research results in the fields of concentrated photovoltaic systems, solar cells, perovskite materials, solar hydrogen production, energy storage materials and photocatalytic purification technology, etc.
Finally, participating teachers and students held discussions on related issues, and experts of two universities gave detailed answers to the questions. Both sides mentioned that they would take this seminar as an opportunity to strengthen scientific research cooperation and faculty and student exchange in related fields, so as to draw on each other’s scientific research advantages and realize the integration of distinctive cultures.
TCU signed Memorandum of Understanding with UTAR of Malaysia in 2016.The success of this seminar has further promoted substantive exchanges and cooperation between two universities, fully demonstrated the important achievements of experts and scholars of two universities in scientific research, resources integration, teacher-student interaction, and international engagement in related fields, and has laid a solid foundation for deepening cooperation in the future.
