On May 29th, Professor YAN Jia from School of Economic Sciences at Washington State University(WSU) of the United States visited Tianjin Chengjian University(TCU).TCU President BAI Haili and Vice President WANG Zhongliang met with the guest, Director and Dean of TCU International Cooperation Office and School of Economics and Management attended the meeting.
BAI Haili introduced recent development, university features and international exchanges of TCU, fully affirmed previous cooperation between the two universities, and hoped to further deepen scientific research cooperation in the future and thus to provide international cooperation and exchange platforms for faculties and students. Professor YAN Jia reviewed cooperation achievements between the two universities, and hoped that both sides could build a coordinated and integrated development model among "university, government and industry" on the basis of the disciplinary features of the two universities in the future, to achieve interdisciplinary cooperation in urban planning, urban management and other fields through interaction between university and industry and between teachers and students, to promote high-quality international cooperation in the fields of informationization and sustainable data development through combining cloud computing platform and international quality resources, and jointly serve the construction of smart cities to promote urban economic development.
Established in 1890, WSU has a history of more than 120 years and ranks among the top 50 public universities in the United States.TCU has carried out extensive and in-depth exchange and cooperation with WSU in the fields of urban economy and urban planning.
Professor YAN Jia is currently a tenured professor of School of Economic Sciences at WSU, member of Air Transport Research Society, and editorial board member of the SCI journal Transportmetrica. His main research areas include applied microeconomics, applied econometrics, industrial organization, transportation and urban economy. He has won the Best Paper Award of the International Transportation Economics Association in 2011 and the Best Paper Award of the Transportation Research Forum in 2009.
