Delegation from Environmental Corp. of Incheon and the Society of Korean Smart Water Grid of South Korea Visited Tianjin Chengjian University

On May 29th, a delegation of 11 people from Environmental Corp. of Incheon and the Society of Korean Smart Water Grid visited Tianjin Chengjian University(TCU). Wang Zhongliang, President of TCU and Yang Jing, Member of Standing Committee of the TCU Council and Vice President, warmly welcomed the delegation. Director of International Cooperation Office and Dean of School of Environmental and Municipal Engineering attended the meeting.

Yang Jing extended a warm welcome to the delegation and stated that Tianjin and Incheon, as sister cities, enjoyed a long history of mutual learning. This visit has laid a solid foundation for further promoting practical cooperation among Environmental Corp. of Incheon, the Society of Korean Smart Water Grid and TCU and for serving high-level international openness. She expressed hope for expanding cooperation areas in the future, enhancing educational and cultural exchanges, promoting mutual visits and mutual learning between the youth of both countries, and making positive contributions to the development of friendly relations between China and South Korea.

Prof. Choi Gyewoon of the Environmental Corp. of Incheon, Assoc. Prof. Jang Dongwoo, representative of the Society of Korean Smart Water Grid and faculty of Incheon National University delivered speeches respectively. They expressed gratitude to TCU for the warm reception and highly praised the development and achievements TCU had made in the field of water supply and drainage. They hoped the three sides could give full play to their respective characteristics and advantages, conduct faculty and student visits and academic exchanges, promote high-level scientific research cooperation and the integration of industry, academia, research and application in the field of urban smart water, jointly contributing to the development of regional water conservancy cooperation between China and South Korea.

Wang Zhongliang stated that Environmental Corp. of Incheon and the Society of Korean Smart Water Grid enjoyed good reputation in academic and industrial fields of environmental management. He expressed hope for future expansion into areas such as artificial intelligence and ecological environment construction, etc, and to explore new models for joint training of postgraduate students to continuously improve the quality of innovative talent cultivation. Wang emphasized the importance of creating a new ecosystem for industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, contributing to the high-quality economic and social development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, hence providing Chinese solutions and higher education insights for industrial development.

Later on, the delegation engaged in discussions with faculty and students representatives of the School of Environmental and Municipal Engineering, visited the school’s laboratory center and the engineering training center of TCU to gain a comprehensive understanding of our school’s educational environment and research facilities in the field of environmental engineering.

The Environmental Corp. of Incheon is a public institution in the environmental sector of South Korea, dedicated to projects in smart pipelines, civil engineering, and electricity, including sewage treatment plants, incineration plants, sanitary landfills, resource recovery centers, and the construction of an integrated smart sewage system with information and communication technology, etc. The Society of Korean Smart Water Grid was established in 2014 and currently has more than 1,000 members. It is committed to promoting academic research and cooperation in the field of smart water as well as fostering collaboration and industrial development with domestic and international communities and relevant organizations.

This visit marks the first time for representatives from Environmental Corp. of Incheon and the Society of Korean Smart Water Grid of South Korea to visit TCU. It is of great significance for TCU to expand cultural exchanges with Korean academic and corporate institutions and to explore practical cooperation in educational field with South Korea. In the future, TCU will continue to build consensus with the two institutions, explore joint training of postgraduate students on the basis of deepening professional and scientific research cooperation, and further improve the quality of scientific research innovation and international talent cultivation in the field of smart city construction.
