On October 20, Davlatzoda Qudrat, Rector of Tajik Technical University, and Li Qingbin, Chairman of Tianjin Urban Construction Management & Vocation Technology College Council, together with Ma Lianqi, Vice Chairman of the College Council, led a delegation to visit Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU). TCU President Wang Zhongliang and Yang Jing, Member of the Standing Committee of the University Council and Vice President, warmly welcomed the guests. Director of TCU International Cooperation Office also attended the meeting.

Li Qingbin expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and reviewed the overall operation and achievements of the Luban Workshop in Tajikistan. He noted that since its establishment, the workshop has maintained high-quality, high-standard development, with continuous progress in joint education programs. The scope and depth of cooperation have been further expanded, moving from the initial foundation-building stage to a new phase of fruitful results. He hoped that the three institutions would continue to deepen collaboration, jointly promote curriculum development, scientific research cooperation, and talent cultivation, and work together to create a new model of integrated vocational and general education cooperation between China and Tajikistan.

Davlatzoda Qudrat remarked that under the guidance of the leaders of both countries, China–Tajikistan relations have been elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The Tajikistan Luban Workshop has become a symbol of pragmatic cooperation in education and science and technology between the two countries, and the collaboration between the universities vividly reflects the high-level bilateral relationship. He highly commended TCU’s efforts in integrating engineering traditions with modern urban sustainable development practices and expressed hope to jointly explore cooperation in green development, energy-saving technologies, smart cities, intelligent construction, and engineering surveying, contributing to the advancement of engineering education in both countries.

Wang Zhongliang extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He noted that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China–Tajikistan relations have maintained healthy and stable growth, yielding fruitful results in education and scientific research cooperation. During the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Tianjin earlier this year, TCU faculties served as the main liaison team for the Tajik delegation, having accomplished all reception and support tasks with great success, which had strengthened cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the two countries and had provided valuable opportunities for the deepening of inter-university relations. He expressed the hope that both sides would continue to work hand in hand to cultivate more ambassadors of friendship who could promote mutual learning between Chinese and Tajik civilizations, turning high-level diplomatic achievements into tangible outcomes in talent development, scientific innovation, and cultural exchange, thus contributing to the building of a China–Tajikistan community with a shared future.

Later on, TCU signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tajik Technical University, marking a new chapter in the partnership between two institutions.

The delegation then attended a meeting with Tajik students studying at TCU, engaging in cordial conversations with them and encouraging them to cherish their time in China, to enhance professional skills and achieve academic success. The delegation also visited TCU Center for Traditional Chinese Culture and the Guqin String Instrument Base, where they learned more about the educational resources and distinctive advantages of TCU, and experienced the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture such as Guqin music. They spoke highly of TCU’s achievements in international education and strong cultural atmosphere for students’ cultivation.

Founded in 1956, Tajik Technical University is the first and top-ranked engineering university in Tajikistan. Over the years, it has trained a large number of skilled professionals in energy, civil engineering, and transportation, etc. The university comprises seven faculties, including Faculty of Energy, Faculty of Construction and Architecture, and Faculty of Transport and Road Infrastructure, etc. which align closely with our university’s academic disciplines and development strategy. Both sides anticipated broad prospects for cooperation in green energy and energy-saving technologies, smart city management, intelligent building and architecture, engineering surveying, and digital modeling of infrastructure. Currently, 16 students from Tajik Technical University are studying in our undergraduate and postgraduate programs. This visit further deepened mutual understanding, expanded areas of cooperation, and laid a solid foundation for more substantive collaboration in the future.

In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China–Tajikistan relations and bilateral cooperation in various fields have made great achievements, forming a comprehensive, wide-ranging, and multi-tiered framework of mutual benefit and win–win development. The signing of the strategic cooperation agreement between TCU and Tajik Technical University was a pragmatic move to serve China’s overall diplomacy and expand cooperation with Central Asia. It also marked an important achievement in our ongoing efforts to deepen international exchange, build a high-quality International Education brand, and enhance our university’s global influence. Taking this agreement as a new starting point, TCU will further advance cooperation with Tajik Technical University in talent cultivation, scientific innovation, and cultural exchange, contributing more educational and technological strength to China–Tajik friendship, enhancing bilateral strategic mutual trust, and building a China–Tajikistan community with a shared future.
