On December 21st, the signing ceremony on Memorandum of Understanding was held online between Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU) and Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest (UTCB) of Romania. TCU President LI Zhongxian, Vice President WANG Zhongliang met with UTCB Rector Văcăreanu and Vice Rector Baltaretu. Executive Director of International Cooperation Office and Dean of School of Energy and Safety Engineering from TCU, Director of the Doctoral School and Director of the Department for International Cooperation from UTCB attended the meeting and witnessed the virtual signing ceremony.
Rector Văcăreanu mentioned he was very delighted that two universities could establish partnership. The joint agreement was an important step to initiate cooperation between two universities, which would build the platform for staff and student exchange and could pave the way for high-level educational and scientific research collaborations.
President LI Zhongxian briefly introduced TCU. He underlined Romania is a country along theBelt and Road, it is also an important partner of China-Central and Eastern European educational cooperation. TCU has been looking for cooperative universities in Romania and UTCB is the first partner that TCU has established in Romania. He expected the two universities could carry out win-win cooperation in the fields of staff and student exchange and academic communications, thus make due contributions to educational and cultural exchanges between China and Romania.

Vice President WANG Zhongliang expressed his wish that the two universities could explore more cooperation modes and expand cooperation fields on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding and promote the implementation of joint cooperation programs in the near future.

Later on, the two universities held the virtual signing ceremony and representatives from relevant offices and schools discussed future working plan and finally reached consensus.

Founded in 1948, UTCB is a time-honored public university located in Bucharest municipality of Romania. The university has been dedicating itself to the education in Civil Engineering and relevant fields and has made significant contributions to the research and education of Romania.
