Recently, Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU) received delegations from two Polish universities: Bialystok University of Technology (BUT), headed by Rector Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, and Cracow University of Technology (CUT), led by Rector Andrzej Rafał Szarata, visited Tianjin Chengjian university (TCU). Wang Zhongliang, President of TCU, met with the guests. Relevant representatives from multiple departments and schools of TCU attended the exchange meetings, including International Cooperation Office, School of Economics and Management, School of Computer and Information Engineering, School of Control and Mechanical Engineering, School of Foreign Languages, School of International Education, as well as International School of Engineering.
President Wang Zhongliang extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegations. He reviewed the profound friendship and fruitful cooperation built by the three universities over the past decade, and briefed the guests on the university’s latest progress in disciplinary development and internationalization. He noted that the trilateral cooperation rests on a solid foundation and boasts promising prospects. He expressed the expectation that the current visit would mark a new starting point for deeper and broader practical collaboration in talent cultivation, scientific research, as well as faculty and student exchanges, thus opening a new chapter in Chinese-Polish higher education collaboration. The two visiting Rectors expressed gratitude for the gracious reception and the long-term cooperation. They spoke highly of the high-standard Chinese-foreign cooperative education and talent cultivation programs run by the university. The two heads pledged to continuously explore new cooperation avenues and jointly elevate trilateral collaboration to new heights.
During the visit, at TCU’s invitation, members of the two delegations delivered a series of thematic academic lectures.
Rector Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, Bogusław Butryło, Dean of Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and Katarzyna Zabielska-Adamska, Chair of the Scientific Council of Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences at BUT, delivered separate presentations covering three themes respectively: the professional value of engineers and youth career planning, dispersive dielectrics and broadband analysis of electromagnetic fields in systems with complex materials, and mechanical characteristics of coarse soil improved by fibre and cement additions. Centered on cutting-edge engineering research frontiers, the lectures closely integrated experimental data with engineering practice to analyze core research challenges in civil and electrical material disciplines. They offered faculty and student attendees with academic interpretations that balance popular science and professionally insightful expertise.
Andrzej Rafał Szarata, Rector of CUT, and Urszula Forczek-Brataniec, Vice Dean of CUT Faculty of Architecture, delivered thematic academic lectures on innovations in high-speed railway infrastructure construction and spatial logic in landscape architecture respectively. Drawing on long-term research results and practical engineering projects, the two experts elaborated on resilient urban transport planning, landscape design, ecological rehabilitation and the integration of humanistic features, alongside their latest research findings, technological breakthroughs, and application prospects. Their lectures inspired interdisciplinary innovative thinking. Faculty and student participants engaged in lively discussions in a highly interactive academic atmosphere.
Faculty and student representatives from TCU’s School of Architecture, School of Civil Engineering, School of Control and Mechanical Engineering, School of Computer and Information Engineering, School of International Education, and International School of Engineering attended the lecture sessions. Serving as a vital platform for interdisciplinary exchange and innovation, these academic activities have further consolidated the academic foundation for scientific research cooperation and international talent cultivation between Chinese and Polish universities.
During the visit, the two delegations visited School of Control and Mechanical Engineering, School of International Education, International School of Engineering, and Engineering Training Center at TCU. They toured a range of specialized laboratories and teaching facilities to gain an in-depth understanding of TCU’s distinctive teaching characteristics and professional facilities.
During their visit, the delegation led by Associate Professor Bogusław Butryło, Dean of Faculty of Electrical Engineering at BUT, held in-depth exchanges with TCU International Cooperation Office, School of Computer and Information Engineering, and School of Control and Mechanical Engineering. Both sides focused on joint talent training programs in Control Science and Engineering and Electronic Information. The two parties discussed in detail the core cooperation matters including course articulation and credit recognition, and explored the feasibility of launching a joint master’s degree program in electrical engineering, reaching a preliminary consensus. This discussion have laid a solid foundation for continuously deepening inter-university collaborative education and expanding the scope of talent cultivation.
The delegate from BUT also held discussions with representatives from TCU School of Economics and Management, School of Foreign Languages, and School of International Education. The two parties focused their talks on multiple key areas, including cooperative programs in Digital Economy, joint establishment of overseas internship and practical training base, as well as international student exchanges. Drawing on the exchange programs at BUT Polish-Chinese Cooperation Centre and the Confucius Classroom at BUT, both institutions will further promote the implementation of relevant projects and continue to expand the depth and breadth of inter-university cooperation.
This visit offered a valuable opportunity for the three universities to consolidate long-standing friendship and deepen substantial cooperation. It also represents a concrete practice of TCU in implementing the 15th Five-Year Plan for educational development, execute the strategy of expanding high-level opening-up in education, and boost the internationalization of outstanding talent cultivation. Taking this visit as a new starting point, TCU will uphold the concepts of mutual trust, win-win cooperation, and collaborative progress. Leveraging its existing Chinese-foreign cooperative educational platform, the university will fully harness the advantage of disciplinary similarity and collaborative potential, and continuously expand the scope and depth of cooperation in joint talent cultivation, joint scientific research, and joint discipline construction. Moving forward, the three universities will join hands to build a high-quality Chinese-Polish international education cooperation platform, constantly improve the quality and effectiveness of educational opening-up, and promote their internationalization toward a higher level of quality development.
