Introduction    

School of Foreign Languages was established in 2012. It aims at cultivating highly-skilled talents with sense of creativity, high English proficiency, a wide range of knowledge in the field of science and culture, and comprehensive quality. Upon successful completion of the program, the students will be competent for positions like translating, teaching, researching and managing in such fields as education, foreign affairs, economy and trade, urban planning and construction, and project management.  

Cultivation Aim

To become advanced-level university specializing in city construction, with the purpose of serving the Belt & Road Initiation, orienting towards Tianjin’s regional economic and social development and continuing to improve English education on undergraduate-level with characteristics in city construction.

General Information about English-Speaking Countries, Architectural English, International Project Management, Basic Theory of Architecture, A Brief History of Chinese and Western Architecture; 6 compulsory credits required for courses in a different college.              

Discipline Characteristics    

Because of the features of majors offered at Tianjin Chengjian University, students majoring in English are mainly required to learn basic knowledge of English language and literature, and acquire understanding of major English-speaking countries in relation to culture and society, such as, literature, history, philosophy, politics, economy, and arts. The students are required to take systematic and well-designed  training in basic language skills, i.e. listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating, oral and written English, cross-cultural communication with foreigners,  and acquire the ability of learning knowledge with the help of computers and Internet. Students are also required to know the basic knowledge about urban planning and constructing and project managing, and develop the ability of creative thinking, scientific research and finding, analyzing, and solving problems comprehensively based on professional knowledge.
