Virtual Signing Ceremony Was Held between Tianjin Chengjian University and Universiti Malaya of Malaysia

On June 22nd, the signing ceremony on Memorandum of Understanding and Student Exchange Program Agreement was held online between Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU) and Universiti Malaya (UM) of Malaysia. TCU President BAI Haili, Vice President WANG Zhongliang met with UM Vice Chancellor Dato’ Mohd Hamdi Abd. Shukor. Directors and Deans of International Cooperation Office, Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering from two universities attended the meeting and witnessed the virtual signing ceremony.

Two universities introduced their features and recent development. Hamdi Shukor was glad that two universities could sign the agreements and establish close partnership. He hoped two universities could conduct cooperation and exchange activities in many other fields on the basis of former cooperation, thus benefiting teachers and students of both universities.


BAI Haili underlined that China and Malaysia are geographically close, ethnically connected, culturally attached, and economically beneficial to each other, and the increasingly frequent cooperation between the two countries have created the opportunities for two universities. He hoped both parties could take the event of the agreement signing as an opportunity to actively explore new cooperation modes, on the basis of steadily promoting the short-term exchange of student visits, continuously deepen the cooperation and mutual integration, thus make due contributions to promoting friendly relations between China and Malaysia against the backdrop of the Belt and Road Initiative.


WANG Zhongliang hoped two universities could strengthen substantive and in-depth collaboration in the field of engineering in various modes, and continue to write new chapters for the partnership.

Later on, two universities held the virtual signing ceremony, representatives from two universities exchanged ideas for future cooperation and reached consensus.

Universiti Malaya is the top one national university in Malaysia. It is a comprehensive university of arts, sciences and medicine. It is one of the largest and most prestigious universities in Malaysia and the oldest institution of higher education in the country. The university has 12 faculties, including Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Law, etc. Currently, there are more than 20,000 undergraduate students, over 12,000 graduate students and more than 4,500 international students. The university is actively cooperating with many world-renowned universities. In QS World University Rankings 2022, Universiti Malaya ranked 65th.
