On November 14th, a delegation of five members, led by Jane Mejlby Buhl Olsen, Associate Dean of Built Environment at VIA University College (VIA) of Denmark, visited Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU) and delivered lectures during their visit for TCU students in Construction Management, a Chinese-foreign cooperative program approved by Chinese Ministry of Education. TCU President Bai Haili and Vice President Chen Zhihua warmly welcomed the guests. Director and Deans of the International Cooperation Office and the School of International Education attended the meeting.
President Bai extended warm welcome to the delegation from VIA and reviewed the development of the joint program. He mentioned that Denmark was one of the first European countries to establish diplomatic relations with China, and this year marked the 15th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Denmark and China. The partnership continued to expand in breadth and depth, yielding fruitful cooperation results and flourishing cultural exchanges, laying a solid foundation for deepening collaboration and strengthening exchanges between the two universities. He expressed hope for continued cooperation, mutual development, and enduring friendship.
Jane Mejlby Buhl-Olsen expressed gratitude for the warm reception, provided a brief overview of the latest developments at VIA. She emphasized that the joint program was a key overseas cooperation program of VIA and the only Chinese-foreign cooperative program in China. In the future, VIA planned to increase input and continuously promote the construction of the joint program, and further strengthen cooperation and exchanges with TCU and expand cooperation areas.
TCU School of International Education and program director of VIA communicated with participants on the progress of teaching activities and students’ learning respectively. This visit marked the first on site teaching and visit by VIA’s teaching team after the joint program resumed offline teaching, contributing significantly to improving the teaching quality and promoting the sustainable and rapid development of the joint program.
The Construction Management program, jointly organized by TCU and VIA, is our university’s first Chinese-foreign cooperative program approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education. The joint program has been operating for 10 years and has enrolled 9 intakes of students, with a current enrollment of 282 students. A total of 404 graduates have been trained, 30 of whom have received bachelor's degrees in Architectural Technology and Construction Management from VIA.
