On November 8th, a delegation of 22 members, led by PETŐ Károly, Deputy Rector for General Affairs of University of Debrecen (UD) from Hungary, visited Tianjin Chengjian University(TCU). The delegation included Director of the International Relations Office of UD, Vice Mayor for Cultural Affairs of Hajdúszoboszló, Vice Mayor for Cultural Affairs of Hajdúnánás, Educational Directorate, Director General for Education of UD, and educators from various fields in Debrecen city of Hungary. TCU President Bai Haili and Vice President Wang Zhongliang warmly welcomed the guests. Director and Deans of TCU International Cooperation Office, School of International Education, and International School of Engineering attended the meeting.
Bai Haili extended a warm welcome to the Hungarian delegation, providing an overview of TCU with special focus on the strengths and characteristics in talent cultivation, disciplinary development, and international education. He highlighted the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road cooperation, and expressed the wish to establish partnership with UD. President Bai proposed collaboration in faculty and student exchange, research cooperation, joint cultivation, etc. in the future, making full use of featured disciplines of both universities for shared development opportunities of the Belt and Road and mutually beneficial cooperation, thus making positive contributions to people to people connectivity between China and Hungary.
PETŐ Károly expressed gratitude for the warm reception, gave a brief introduction to the history and current development of UD, and identified the great potential for cooperation in various fields. He hoped to establish a cooperative relationship with TCU as soon as possible and jointly carry out fruitful cooperation in areas such as water resources and ecological environment, engineering science, and engineering management, etc.
KISZIL Okszána, Director of Coordination and Strategy, Director of the International Relations Office and Director of Russian Research Center of UD, gave a detailed introduction to the faculties, disciplines, international education, and campus environment, etc, of UD.
Later on, the delegation visited International School of Engineering, Engineering Training Center, and School of International Education of TCU to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the international education and research environment.
The visit provided an excellent opportunity for mutual understanding and consensus, contributing significantly to enhancing and expanding TCU's cooperation network in Central and Eastern Europe, and to advancing the cultivation of high-level international talents.
Founded in 1538, UD boasts a history of nearly 500 years, and it is a well-known public comprehensive research university and the oldest existing higher education institution in Hungary. With 13 faculties and 24 doctoral schools and a diverse range of disciplines in engineering, agriculture, business, humanities, science, medicine, etc., the university has over 40,000 students, including approximately 360 international students from China.
