On May 15th, President Wang Zhongliang of Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU) warmly welcomed a delegation of 8 professors from Bialystok University of Technology (BUT) and Cracow University of Technology (CUT) of Poland, who are teaching at International School of Engineering (ISE). Director and Deans of the International Cooperation Office, School of Architecture, School of Civil Engineering, School of Environmental and Municipal Engineering, and ISE attended the meeting.
Wang Zhongliang extended a warm welcome to the professors from Poland, stating that ISE was an important part of TCU's international education brand. It plays a crucial role in enhancing the university’s Chinese-foreign cooperative education and expanding new platforms for featured high-level development. He hoped that in the future, the three universities would further improve teaching quality, deepen cooperation, jointly hold the first graduation ceremony of ISE, and establish a new benchmark for Chinese-Polish higher education cooperation.
Prof. Piotr Banaszuk from BUT and Kinga Hanna RACO Ń-LEJA from CUT delivered speeches respectively on behalf of the delegation. They expressed gratitude for the warm reception and thoughtful arrangements. They mentioned that teaching at TCU allowed them to experience the charm of Chinese culture and the Tianjin city, as well as engage in face-to-face interaction and exchanges with TCU faculty and students. They were deeply impressed by the students' diligence and academic achievements, and looked forward to continuously deepening cooperation in education and research in the future, promoting joint talent cultivation to yield more fruitful results.
Huang Lingxiang, Dean of ISE, reported on the school’s recent development, emphasizing that ISE would give full play to the strengths and characteristics of the three universities, actively introduce high-quality educational resources from Poland, and continuously improve the quality of cooperative education.
Since the establishment of ISE, the three universities have adhered to the principles of friendly consultation, joint construction and sharing, and win-win cooperation. Over the past four years, ISE has achieved remarkable results in talent cultivation, faculty improvement, and disciplinary development, etc, and has won high praise and recognition from various sectors of society. In June 2024, ISE will welcome its first batch of graduates, with an overall enrollment rate of 27.5%. Among them, 18 graduates have been admitted into universities ranked among the top 100 in the QS World University Rankings, such as University of Pennsylvania, University of Manchester. The Polish professors’ visit to teach at TCU provides an excellent opportunity for the integration and innovative development of Chinese-foreign cooperative education programs, as well as the sustainable development of internationalization at home. It is of great significance for improving the communication mechanism among the faculty teams of three universities, enhancing cultural understanding between teachers and students, and further elevating the level of cooperative education at TCU.
This meeting has provided a valuable opportunity for the faculty teams of the three universities to exchange ideas, and has laid a solid foundation for further elevating the level of cooperative education and promoting high-quality development of international exchanges. Looking ahead, TCU will continue to uphold the spirit of openness and cooperation, introduce high-quality educational resources, achieve the integration, innovation, and sustainable development of Chinese-foreign cooperative education programs, which will improve the quality of education and research, cultivate more high-quality talents with international perspectives and competitiveness, thus making due contributions to the cause of Chinese-foreign cooperative education.
