On May 8th, Liu Chunguang, Vice Chairman of the College Council and President of Tianjin Urban Construction Management & Vocation Technology College, and Ma Lianqi, Vice Chairman of the College Council, led a delegation of six members to visit Tianjin Chengjian University(TCU) for exchange and cooperation. TCU Vice President Wang Zhongliang met with the guests. Director and Deans of TCU International Cooperation Office, School of Energy and Safety Engineering, School of Geology and Geomatics and School of International Education attended the meeting.
Wang Zhongliang expressed sincere welcome to the delegation from Tianjin Urban Construction Management & Vocation Technology College and gave a brief introduction to the overall internationalization of TCU. He stated that in the future, by participating in the joint training project of Luban Workshop, TCU would build a platform for more Tajik students to exchange and study at TCU, creating a new model of vocational and general education integration for international students.
Liu Chunguang noted that, with distinctive urban construction characteristics, the two schools have highly compatible programs and a good foundation for cooperation. The jointly conducted undergraduate and master’s degree programs by both schools have innovated a new model of cooperation for Luban Workshop, which is of great strategic significance for jointly promoting educational and cultural exchanges between China and Tajikistan. Ma Lianqi introduced in detail the current operating status, achievements and future work plans etc. of Tajikistan Luban Workshop.
Later on, Deans of relevant schools of both sides conducted in-depth discussions on short-term student exchanges, multi-level undergraduate and master’s degree education, and language training for international students, etc., and reached consensus on future plans and working mechanism.
This visit provided a good opportunity for the two schools to further deepen understanding, and facilitated the implementation of joint training projects. It laid a solid foundation for promoting the quality internationalization of the two schools and further transformed the central government’s requirements of “striving for excellence in four key areas” into practical actions to enhance the internationalization of education. This will shine a spotlight on the "Study in Tianjin" brand and promote the construction of a new pattern to serve Tianjin's opening up to the world.
TCU attaches great importance to international education. Since 2009, it has been enrolling international students, achieving rapid growth in just over a decade. By the end of 2023, the total number of international students at TCU has reached more than 1,000, with students coming from 37 countries. A comprehensive educational system for international students has been established, primarily focusing on undergraduate and master’s degree education, supplemented by non-degree preparatory education and continuing education programs. In the future, TCU will take the joint China-Tajikistan international students training project as an opportunity to innovate the joint training models and contribute to cultivating more talents to serve the Belt and Road construction and disseminating Chinese culture.
