On February 25th, the International Workshop of Arctic Building Research (IWABR) was held online and offline.The workshop was hosted by Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU), and was co-hosted by six universities including Umeå University of Sweden, The Arctic University of Norway, University of Vaasa of Finland, Technical University of Denmark, Concordia University of Canada, and Qinghai Minzu University of China. The workshop was organized by TCU School of Energy and Safety Engineering and was presided over by Professor YANG Bin, Dean of the school, having attracted more than 240 teachers and students from home and abroad.
Professor YANG Bin expressed warm welcome and sincere greetings to the experts, scholars and representatives attending the meeting, and introduced the development process, strategies and characteristics, and international cooperation of TCU and School of Energy and Safety Engineering.
Representatives of Arctic Centerat Umeå University, Arctic Centerat Technical University of Denmark, and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Polar Architecture Research Center of Qinghai Minzu University introduced respectively their institutions, research fields and features.
At the meeting, 9 experts including Professor Thomas Olofsson (Umeå University), Professor Bjørn Sørensen (The Arctic University of Norway), Professor LV Xiaoshu (University of Vaasa), Professor LU Weizhuo (Umeå University), Professor QIN Menghao (Technical University of Denmark), Professor WANG Liangzhu (Concordia University), Assistant Professor FENG Kailun (Umeå University), Professor ZHANG Tao (Qinghai Minzu University), and Professor YANG Bin (TCU) delivered keynote speeches. The speeches mainly focused on the topics of sustainable building environment assessment in thearctic region, energy-saving residential buildings, smart cities, hybrid renewable energy, modeling building resilience, energy-efficient building renovation, indoor and outdoor thermal comfort, etc. All participants discussed in detail the issues related to energy conservation in arctic buildings, and exchanged ideas.
Professor YANG Bin summarized the meeting and expressed gratitude for all participants.
The success of IWABR had established a platform for research collaboration, communications and university promotion among TCU and all participating universities, and had promoted academic exchanges in the field of building energy conservation, smart city, renewable energy, indoor thermal comfort etc. among universities at home and abroad, marking a substantive step in the international exchange of TCU and School of Energy and Safety Engineering, and it will further promote extensive international exchange and cooperation in disciplines related to building energy conservation of TCU.
