The Delegation from Cracow University of Technology in Poland Visited Tianjin Chengjian University and Conducted Academic Exchanges

On June 20th, Andrzej SZARATA, Rector of Cracow University of Technology(CUT) in Poland, led a delegation of 7 people to visit and conduct academic exchanges at Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU).Wang Zhongliang, TCU President, Yang Jing, Member of Standing Committee of the TCU Council and Vice President, met with the guests, Director of International Cooperation Office and Dean of International School of Engineering (ISE) attended the meeting.

Wang Zhongliang extended warm welcome to the delegation and reviewed the friendly cooperation between the two universities. Over the past decade, both sides have actively promoted joint talent cultivation, academic and cultural exchanges. ISE, the jointly established cooperative institution, would welcome its first graduates, yielding fruitful results of the cooperatively-run institution between China and Poland. Wang Zhongliang expressed the hope to continue the cooperation with CUT, deepening disciplinary advantages, expanding more diverse areas of cooperation, and thus provide intellectual support for the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind and high-quality development of the the Belt and Road construction. Yang Jing highly praised the profound friendship and cooperation achievements between the two universities. She expressed the hope for further advancing the partnership to deeper and higher levels, and invited the delegation to participate in the 2024 Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium Conference & Forum.

On behalf of CUT, Andrzej ZARATA expressed gratitude for the warm reception from TCU and stated that the two sides had a solid foundation for cooperation with promising prospects and enormous potential for future collaboration. He hoped that the two universities would continue to contribute to expanding educational and cultural exchanges, deepening innovative talent cultivation and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of science and technology between China and Poland based on their disciplinary and major characteristics and intellectual talent advantages.

During the academic lecture session, Prof. Andrzej SZARATA, Rector of CUT, and Prof. Piotr MICHORCZYK, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, delivered excellent academic reports on the topics of Transport in resilient city and Catalysts preparation using 3D Printing respectively. Nearly 300 participants, including deans, faculty and students representatives from School of Architecture, School of Civil Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, and ISE of TCU, attended the lectures.

The two experts, drawing from their own research topics, provided in-depth explanations through case studies on the significance and practical approaches to building resilient cities and transportation systems, as well as the unique advantages of 3D printing technology in catalyst preparation, and the research results and application prospects in driving digital transformation in the chemical industry. Their presentations showcased international cutting-edge research perspectives and the latest scientific research achievements in related disciplines to TCU faculty and students, who engaged in lively interactive discussions with the two experts and expressed their anticipation for more opportunities to participate in international academic exchanges in the future to continuously expand research approaches and global perspectives.

TCU signed MoU with CUT in 2014, officially establishing partnership. Through cultural exchanges, faculty and student visits, and scientific research cooperation, the two universities have developed a divers and in-depth cooperation model. Over the years, nearly 200 faculty members and students have participated in exchange programs between the two institutions.

CUT, founded in 1946, is a national university boasting nearly 80 years of academic tradition, ranking one of the top three universities in Poland. The university consists of eight faculties, including the Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, etc. Its Architecture and Urban Planning discipline ranks first in Poland. The Architecture program is accredited by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), and the Landscape Architecture program is accredited by the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) in Europe. Additionally, CUT was awarded with the highest scientific category A+ for the Faculty of Architecture in the latest evaluation of scientific disciplines at Polish universities and research institutes.

The visit of CUT delegation holds great significance to further consolidate the partnership between TCU and Polish universities and promote the high-quality intensive development of the university. Moving forward, TCU will continue to respond to the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, actively implement the national strategy to expand the scale of youth exchanges between China and Europe, deeply explore the potential of international cooperation in education, create a new highland of international cooperation that is impactful and influential, thereby comprehensively enhancing the educational internationalization of the university.
